Hello Folks,

My Scag Hydro-Z is just about one year old and it seems to have developed a problem with the hydraulics – both sides of the mower feel like they’ve been drained of power and the belts begin to squeak when moving forward. Is there a simple fix to this that anyone’s aware of?

Hey Leroy,

I had this problem last month with my own riding Scag – turns out the belts were loose. I used to supplied spring to tension it and tightened it after changing the fluid when priming the hydraulic filter. I would suggest you ensure that there’s plenty of fluid. If this doesn’t solve the problem, inspect the lubricant composition. Remember to let the machine warm up for a while when you turn it on after replacing the fluid.
